Our Process

Initial meeting

The first thing we do is get to know you.

We want to get a good understanding of your expectations, and we want you to get a good understanding of what we can deliver for you.

Concept Design

Once we have established some guidelines around time, budget, style and size, the next step is to meet with one of our preferred designers who will step you through the design brief. In this meeting we go through every aspect of the home and how you intend on using it. Not only do we want to know your preference for room layout and building style, we also want to develop a comprehensive understanding of your lifestyle needs.

Once this is done we undertake a survey of your site and begin the process of designing your home. We review your requirements and budget against our initial concept design and then meet again to present the sketch. This initial concept is continually altered until it meets your approval.

Design Submission

Once design approval has been given, we prepare the construction documentation to submit for local council approval. To receive council approval we need to prepare full working drawings that detail every aspect of the home including engineering details, energy assessment and other technical documentation. Local authority approvals are very complex so it is important for us to have a thorough understanding of the local and state guidelines.

Once the local authority has issued all approvals we are ready to commence work on site.

At this stage we will provide you with a complete set of plans, specifications for review and discussion to ensure everything has been covered.

Contract

This is the stage where we develop a contract that suits your needs. There are many different styles of contracts, from ‘lump sum’ to ‘cost plus’. We will explain each of them, along with their pros and cons. Then together we will develop a contract that best suits your circumstances.

Once the contract is prepared and agreed upon, we look forward to introducing you to our team. At Dixon Construction our entire staff knows who each of our clients are, and what stage their home is at. It is this passion that helps us set us apart from the other construction companies.

Construction Process

Every client of Dixon Construction is paired with their own personal Project Supervisor from the time construction begins. This means that there is single point of call for you during the building process. Our Project Supervisors are highly pro-active and excellent communicators, so any questions you have will be answered quickly and to your satisfaction.

You will also receive emails at every stage of the construction process (complete with photos and documentation) to ensure that you are always well-informed about where your project is at.

And before you know it we will be handing you the keys to your new home!
